Yes, the butterfly wings are indeed real. The seller said flat out that the butterfly was farm bred and collected after a natural deaths. And the wings were then carefully laminated to make the pendant I purchased and put at the center of this dreamcatcher.

The yarn used to wrap the rings is another from my mom-in-law's yarn shop, K & K Wools (kkwools.com), and it is a 'monochromatic variegated' color that goes from a beautiful aqua to a deep teal (thus the yarn color name 'Tormented Teal').

The glass beads go from darker teal to a lighter teal.

Now while this may be named Tormented Butterfly, the intention and energy is anything but and the symbolism behind butterflies in general is change, joy and a reminder to get up and move, dance and evolve.

Note: This is not the best picture of this dreamcatcher and if I manage to get one that shows the whole of the dreamcatcher better, I will replace this one right away.
